V.A.C.® Therapy: Leading the Way
KCI pioneered Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) and has been leading the way ever since. Our proprietary SENSAT.R.A.C.™ Technology monitors and adjusts for any pressure changes at the wound site and is one of the major reasons why clinical studies with a variety of wound types have demonstrated that V.A.C.® Therapy is associated with clinical benefits such as:
Lowered incidence of re-admission, additional surgeries and complications
Reduced amputation rates
Reduced time to heal
Reduced incidence of surgical dehiscence and infection
Other manufacturer’s may claim that all NPWT is the same but do they have their own data to support those claims?
Remember, if it doesn’t say V.A.C® Therapy, it’s not.
What sets V.A.C.® Therapy apart?
V.A.C.® FACT #1
V.A.C.® Therapy is the only NPWT device engineered with SENSAT.R.A.C.™ Technology, a proprietary technology that maintains and adjusts to deliver set pressure at the wound site. Additionally, EASYCLEAR PURGE™ Technology is designed to proactively aid in the prevention and clearance of blockages.
V.A.C.® FACT #2
Blockage alarms on NPWT systems serve to detect and notify caregivers of existing blockages that could prevent programmed negative pressure from being delivered to the wound site. Of equal importance is how the NPWT system responds to a blockage being present. If the unit does not alarm to notify the caregiver to clear the blockage or does not attempt to clear the blockage, the wound may not receive the programmed therapy, which can result in poor outcomes. KCI initiated a bench study designed to evaluate the capability of NPWT systems at detecting and responding to blockages.
Conclusions: KCI V.A.C.® Negative Pressure Wound Therapy integrated with SENSAT.R.A.C.™ Technology performed significantly better in monitoring negative pressure delivery at a simulated wound site, notifying users if blockages exist that could prevent the programmed negative pressure from being delivered to the simulated wound site and attempted to overcome blockages by increasing negative pressure at the canister.
