Designed to help patients resume their activities of daily living while still receiving the proven wound healing benefits of V.A.C.® Therapy.
SENSAT.R.A.C.™ with EASYCLEAR PURGE™ Technology
Only V.A.C.® Therapy provides patented SENSAT.R.A.C.™ Technology, a real-time pressure feedback system that adjusts pump output, compensating for wound distance, wound position, exudates characteristics, and patient movement.
SEAL CHECK™ Feature
Designed to help clinicians and patients identify and troubleshoot dressing leaks
Therapy History Reporting
Documents patient compliance with V.A.C.® Therapy
The mechanisms of action for V.A.C.® Therapy include drawing wound edges together, removing infectious materials and wound fluids, promoting perfusion, maintaining a closed, moist wound healing environment and promoting granulation tissue formation.
The integrated V.A.C.® Therapy System has a unique mechanism of action whereby the delivery of negative pressure through the V.A.C.® Therapy Units using proprietary V.A.C.® GRANUFOAM™ Dressings maintains a wound environment that promotes wound healing.
Under negative pressure, V.A.C.® Therapy with proprietary V.A.C.® GRANUFOAM™ Dressings applies mechanical forces to the wound to create an environment that promotes wound healing. These forces are known as macrostrain and microstrain.1
Macrostrain is the visible stretch that occurs when negative pressure contracts the foam.
Type B, Applied Part Class II IPX0
Equipment not suitable for use in presence of flammable anesthetic mixture with air, oxygen or nitrous oxide.
The ACTIV.A.C.™ Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System is an integrated wound management system for use in acute, extended and home care settings. When used on open wounds, it is intended to create an environment that promotes wound healing by secondary or tertiary (delayed primary) intention by preparing the wound bed for closure, reducing edema, promoting granulation
tissue formation and perfusion, and by removing exudate and infectious material. Open wound types include: chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute and dehisced wounds, partial thickness
burns, ulcers (such as diabetic, pressure or venous insufficiency), flaps and grafts.
When used on closed surgical incisions, it is intended to manage the environment of surgical incisions that continue to drain following sutured or stapled closure by maintaining a closed environment and removing exudates via the application of negative pressure wound therapy.
Evidence & Outcomes
V.A.C.® Therapy has the largest body of evidence to date including over 1,000 peer reviewed articles, 45 of which are randomized controlled trials (RCTs). These studies have demonstrated the positive clinical outcomes of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, as well as the effectiveness of V.A.C.® Therapy in managing diabetic foot wounds, chronic wounds (eg, pressure ulcers and lower extremity ulcers), and a variety of acute wounds. Some of these studies are listed below.
